MISSION
The Mission of ARTS San Antonio is to provide a diverse and comprehensive
program of high quality performing arts accessible to the surrounding
community. The Board of ARTS San Antonio accepts the following fundamentals
as critical to the accomplishment of our overall mission:
- The Expansion of our educational outreach to the surrounding community
including our youth, for the purpose of developing and increasing the awareness and appreciation of high quality performing arts.
- The proactive movement toward the collaboration and cooperation of performing arts and other arts providers in San Antonio and the surrounding community.
- The continuation of fiscally responsible programming.
ORGANIZATIONAL STATEMENT
ARTS San Antonion Antonio was incorporated as a not for profit performing
arts organization in July of 1992. At that time, community leaders
and supporters of the arts opted to create a performing arts organization
that is strong financially and offers diverse performance opportunities.
The new organization brings together 30 years of presenting and
producing experience from the performing arts in San Antonio.
Since the inception of ARTS San Antonio, the board and staff have
worked diligently to make the performing arts accessible to everyone
through culturally diverse programming, free performances and educational
outreach. Renowned artists and ensembles bring world class performances
to our city that are diverse in genre, venues and ticket price.
ARTS San Antonio also has made concerted efforts to increase individual,
corporate and foundation support in order to facilitate organizational
stability and to strengthen and diversify the scope of our performances
for the entire community.
The ARTS San Antonio season begins in the fall and features a combination
of dance, classical and contemporary music, ethnic performances,
and theatre. Each year the organization forges new alliances with
arts and community organizations. For example, ARTS San Antonio
will team with the San Antonio Food Bank to offer a special performance
for which the admission price is a donation of food. These types
of partnership attract a wider audience of the city and further
the objective of strengthening ARTS San Antonio and securing it
as an important part of the community.
