Educations:
Self-educated ceramist and intuitive crafter. Laura has attended various art classes & workshops such as at the Southwest School of Art & Craft and UTSA ceramic seminars. She has been inspired by the ceramic community in Central Texas.
Professional Hightlights:
Co-owner of Sew-Deluxe (San Antonio’s only alternative sewing lounge) where she teaches creative sewing and other fiber related crafts. As a free-lance artist instructor, Laura is an active DIYer that promotes her view that fine crafts can interact and relate in a way that traditional “fine art” doesn’t. Her ceramic animal figures & art dolls are shown in area galleries and craft shows.
Education Experience:
Has taught arts and crafts workshops and done artist-in-residency at numerous non-profit agencies. In the last ten years, she has taught at: ARtsTEach, Southwest School of Arts & Crafts, Jump Start’s Healing Arts, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, San Antonio Public Library System, Moving Waters, Circle School, San Antonio Academy, McNay Art Museum, and Joven. Currently works for the San Antonio Museum of Art and the Carver Cultural Center’s after school art enrichment programming and heads the ceramic studio.
