CAVE ART -FIRED (3RD-5TH)

Category: Visual Arts

Artist: Pamela Henry  [More Information for This Artist]
Grade 3 - 5, 2 Hour Workshop
Workshop Cost $120

The most famous and outstanding examples of prehistoric art made nearly 20,000 years ago were discovered by accident. The caves at Lascaux in Southern France reveal extraordinary drawings of animals. These astonishingly sophisticated examples of man’s earliest art have been studied by scientists and artists since their discovery. The “Cave Artist” created extraordinary art with crude tools, the simplest of materials, and without the benefit of any sort of technology. In this lesson students learn the rich history of prehistoric art and create their own “cave paintings.” FA-A 117.11 (3.1), (3.2) & (3.3) FA-A 117.14 (4.1), (4.2) & (4.3) FA-A 117.17 (5.1), (5.2) & (5.3)
